The over 5 million viewers were the most to watch a live UFC fight in 2009.

This past weekend’s Spike TV broadcast of The Ultimate Fighter 10 Finale scored an average audience of 3.7 million viewers but peaked with 5.2 million for the non-headliner between Kimbo and Houston Alexander.

The Dec. 5 event was the most-watched season finale among the 10 seasons of “TUF.” It was also the third most-watched UFC fight card in the promotion’s history and the highest rated of 2009.

A three-hour special that details the best moments of the Ultimate
Fighting Championships’ 2009 season debuts this Wednesday, Dec. 9, on
Spike TV.

“UFC Best of 2009″ airs at 7 p.m. ET/PT on the UFC’s longtime cable partner.

The special features the biggest fights, best highlights and important milestones from throughout 2009, which included a total of 20 events, a Spike TV spokesperson today told MMAjunkie.com.
